ABOUT

Russian Literature through Film is an archive of student films made in classes on Russian literature, film, and language. The site also stores materials that students and teachers may use for filmmaking activities in or out of the classroom.

Aided by a 2008 fellowship from the Berkeley Language Center, site director Jillian Porter began developing digital video projects for her Russian language classes at the University of California, Berkeley. She summarized the findings of her BLC Fellowship project in the BLC Newsletter article, "Filmmaking and Foreign Language Instruction."

As an Assistant Professor of Russian at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Porter assigns adaptation projects in English- and Russian-language courses on Russian literature and film such as MLLL 3153, Russian Literature through Film (taught in English). She is grateful for the equipment and editing resources in the Modern Languages Learning Center and would like to express special thanks to director John Verbick and his staff for all their expert assistance and support.
